Simón Mesa Soto (Medellín, 1986) is a Colombian film director, best known for his 2025 film 'Un poeta'. 'Un poeta' won the Special Jury Prize in the "Un Certain Regard" section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and the Horizontes Latinos Award at the San Sebastián Film Festival, in addition to being selected by the Colombian Academy to represent Colombia at the Oscars and the Goya Awards. His short film 'Leidi' won the Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
