Content: Martina, a sorrowful woman, is the sole inhabitant of an abandoned and eerie house, where a couple arrives on a stormy night seeking shelter. Martina tells them how what was once a happy hacienda turned into a hell filled with resentment when Doña Adelaida—the master’s second wife—and her son Hugo came to live there; the despotism and cruelty of both ultimately destroyed the entire family.
