Content: Zé Luís is 81 years old. This elderly man has always lived in the village of São Martinho in northeastern Portugal. His life has followed in the footsteps of his ancestors. He owns land, has worked it, and has been able to provide a modest living for his family. Things began to change when overpopulation and poverty led to families breaking up. His children had to emigrate. Now nothing will ever be the same again. Zé Luís is one of the last representatives of a way of life that is now gone. His children are no longer there, and the opening up of the region means that working methods have to be rethought.
