(The Lash of Pinto Pete)

Content: Driven from his throne by the scheming Targon, the King of Paloma is banished to the prison mines, where his son, Pietro, is bayoneted for protesting. A shipwreck allows the king to escape and find refuge with his followers on Paloma's rocky shore. Rosita cares for the blinded king and tells him of Pinto Pete, who defends the oppressed with his bullwhip.
